Call me Alex. I am a twenty-year-old gay Linguistics major who likes Homestuck, elephants, dinosaurs, and Sherlock. I try to put trigger warnings on things if need be, and I tag everything outwardly TMI-y or sexual with "nsfw", whether it's visual or just text. I don't normally tag things, but if you need me to, just send me a message and I will try to help. I am not a feminist, and I will sometimes critique feminism and other forms of activism on this blog. I try to avoid SJ, but I still sometimes call people out when I think they're being bigoted, ignorant, or anything else objectionable. Mostly though, this is a blog for flailing about fandoms and words and queerness. Be okay with that.

Cosplay question

snakewife:

Okay, I’m a newbie to cosplay, so I don’t know these things:

Do I need to use a wig? I mean, in this case, I’d be essentially buying a wig my exact same cut and color. However, the cosplay blogs I read strongly recommend using a wig. Is there a specific reason for this?

That sounds really ridiculous. Why waste money on a wig if you don’t need one?

  9. sonamaeam said: If your hair looks the way the character has it (or can be styled accordingly) you don’t really need a wig, it’ll even be easier without it. They aren’t essential for same hair cosplays, some people just prefer them. It’s up to the cosplayer.
  10. taykash said: it’s not necessary if the style isn’t an outrageous one that can’t actually be done with your own hair (like most anime, video games, etc.) so you’re in the clear without buying one, I think :)
